THIRD COURIER TRIP
The Lord answered Moses,
"Is the Lord's arm too short? You will now
see whether or not what I say will come true for
you." Numbers 11:23
One day I was preparing to show
the film, which was now available on video, Here Am
I, Send Me, to yet another Bible Study group. While
reading over the brochure, I became so excited I
said to R.J., "I want to bring more Bibles to the
believers in China!" R.J. replied, "Well, I don't
know where you will get the money for the trip this
time."
I remembered that I should
first ask God if I could go. So I went into the
bedroom and knelt down next to my bed and prayed,
"Now, God, I would like to make another trip to
China as a Bible courier. Is it ok with you?" The
Lord said to me, "Behold, I do a new thing. Go on
the trip in May. I will be with you."
I rose up almost shouting,
"Thank You, thank You, Lord," and ran into the front
room and said excitedly, "R.J., the Lord said I can
go on the trip in May. Isn't that wonderful?" His
reply was, "But you don't have the money for this
trip." With that comment He mumbled, "I don't know
why you want to go. Why can't you just mail some
Bibles to China?"
As I picked up the phone to
call Love China Ministries in Lancaster, CA, I said,
"Oh, R.J., you don't understand. Sending a check for
Bibles is just not the same as going yourself."
When I told the lady at Love
China Ministries that I wanted to sign up for the
courier trip in May, she said, "Lenore, there is no
trip scheduled for May, but there is a team going in
June." I hung up the phone and said dejectedly,
"There is no trip scheduled for May. I was sure I
heard God say I was to go in May." R.J. remarked,
"You didn't have the money anyhow, so forget it."
Shortly after that, we received
a refund from the IRS for over two thousand dollars.
A few day later I received a call from the lady at
Love China Ministries. She said, "Lenore, there has
been a change of plans. The trip has been moved up
to May and if you still want to go, send us your
application and airplane fare as soon as possible."
I was elated as I replied, "Yes, I want to join the
team for the trip in May."
Now I had to tell R.J. about
the trip. I said, "R.J., what are we going to do
with our tax refund?" He said, "Let's blow it on
something we don't need."
"Well," I said, "I have a
better idea. We'll split it and you can do what you
want with your half and I'll do what I want with my
half. Is it a deal?" R.J. said, "Sounds good to
me. What are you going to do with your half?"
"I got word that the trip to
China is on for May and I want to be on the team.
See, I did hear God tell me to go on the trip in
May, after all." I said. R.J. said, "I guess you
think God sent that refund check just so you could
make another trip to China."
"It does look that way, doesn't
it? Isn't God wonderful," I replied I was overjoyed
at the prospect of making one more trip as a Bible
courier. So, near the end of May, I found myself,
once again, at the training ranch with a new team of
Christians headed for Hong Kong, China.
In bed at the ranch the last
night, I reflected on how my life had changed since
my daughter had died eight years earlier. I thanked
God for His mercy and grace in bringing me out of
that dark tragedy and into His glorious light. I
was experiencing high adventure I never could have
dreamed possible as a grandmother in her sixties.
I will praise God forever for
His love and mercy! |
