THE
RAINBOW
"Therefore, my dear
brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you.
Always give yourselves fully to the work of the
Lord, because
you know that your labor in the Lord is not in
vain."
1 Corinthians 15:58
What would you think about a rainbow appearing in
the sky when there is no sign of rain, just a few
fleecy white clouds floating across the blue
horizon? Well, I took it as a sign that I was
on the right track with my writing. The night
before, I was preparing an article for the writer's
workshop I attend when words spoken to me by a
friend suddenly came to mind. She said, "You
can't say 'God told me' because it will offend
people."
When I read through my finished article I declared
to God, "Oh Lord, I refuse to "water down" or
compromise my personal relationship with you.
I'm going to tell it like it is and let the chips
fall where they may." The Scripture Mathew
10:32,33 says:
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him
will
I confess also before my
Father which is in heaven. But
whosoever shall deny me
before men, him will also deny
before my Father which is
in heaven.
When I think of all the years I struggled through
life with little hope, I am thankful that I can talk
to Jesus and he answers me, just as He promises in
his word. He cares about each one of us right
down to the smallest detail of our lives. Now,
that is awesome!
I printed my article for class and went to bed
feeling that I had made a stand. I would
declare to the world the importance of knowing and
trusting God in my daily walk. The next
morning on my way to school I turned West to get on
to the freeway. I glanced up in the sky.
There was the most beautiful rainbow I've ever seen
spreading across the blue sky in a magnificent arch
of colors. I cried, "Oh Lord, is this a sign
that you are pleased with my decision to declare my
personal relationship with you no matter what people
say about me?"
Joy welled up inside me and I began laughing and
praising God, and I shouted, "Oh God, You are always
surprising me! Thank You!"
From that moment on, each time I wrote a story I
thought of that rainbow and remembered my decision
to speak the truth without compromise. |
