STEP OUT IN FAITH
"I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13
When I returned to my own house after staying at my
son John's house while recuperating from pneumonia,
I was very weak. It was a struggle just to get
moving in the morning. I longed to fellowship
with other women at an Aglow Bible study which met
at Lola's home in Temecula, Ca.
Week after week I tried to get up and go, but
I felt so weak I gave up and stayed home.
Finally, in desperation I cried out to God, "Please
help me, Lord; I need the fellowship of the ladies
at the Bible class. I do not have the strength
to get ready in the morning."
At the time, the answer from the Lord did not
make any sense to me. But then I heard the
Lord say a second time, "I want you to get up and
start getting ready. No matter how weak you
feel, keep on preparing to go to the Bible study."
I did this, even though I had no hope of going.
I even got in the car and started driving to class.
Now, this is the amazing part. The
closer I came to the house where the study was held,
the stronger I became. I began praising God
for renewing my strength. By the time I
arrived at Lola's house, parked the car, and entered
the house I was singing and feeling like I had
never been sick! All the ladies welcomed me,
remarking how well I looked. I joined in
worshipping and praising God before Wilma, our
teacher, began the lesson. I had such a
wonderful time.
My renewed strength lasted most of the day.
I thanked God for teaching me to trust Him for
strength sufficient for the task at hand. From
that day on, every Tuesday morning, no matter how
bad I felt, I made preparation to go to class and,
without fail, God renewed my strength moment by
moment.
I have never regained my strength completely
and many times when I get up on Sunday mornings to
go to church, I recall the lesson I learned from the
Lord: If I step out in faith God will meet my need.
So I start preparing to go to church and God always
gives me strength sufficient for the trip to church
and rest of the day.
What a loving God we serve! He cares about the
smallest details of our lives! |
