LEARNING TO SOAR

LINDA'S CHALLENGE

"For we are God's workmanship..."  Ephesians 2:10a

At the Temecula, California monthly Aglow meeting recently the guest speaker, Linda Greyshock, challenged us by saying, "Go home and list five things you would like to do for the kingdom of God."  I went home and pondered her challenge all afternoon.  I wondered what would be the most important thing I could do for God.  Here's a list I compiled for starters:

      1. Since God has called me to be an encourager and given me the gift of writing,
I guess number one would be to write encouraging words that will bring hope
          to people.
      2. Because of my recent widowhood and the ensuing loneliness I would like to
reach out to other lonely people.
      3. I would like to be useful in spreading the Gospel.  This can be done, not by
giving out tracts only, but me meeting peoples' needs, showing love.
      4. I want people to know that I am a Christian by the way I talk and walk; to set
          a good example.
      4. Last, but perhaps the most important, would be to obey God by saying,
          'Whatever, Lord.'

Most likely, number five could take care of the first four.  The easiest part of all this is making the list.  The 'knitty-gritty' of this project requires obedience to God's directives, which requires complete trust in the Lord.

I don't know about you, but I am always on shaky ground when trying to trust God with every detail of my life.  I've read God's promises so many times, and yet, I waver and get fearful.  Perhaps that is where the expression, 'going around the mountain again' came from;  if you don't learn the first time around you get to repeat the lesson until it is second nature, no hesitation or doubts remain.

I can see right now that I need lots of help from the Lord if I'll ever accomplish any of the goals on this list.

Philippians 1:6 says: "...being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ--to the glory and praise of God."

      My last comment is:
Keep a hopeful heart because nothing is impossible with God!
