FIVE
HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS
"And it shall come to
pass, that before they call,
I will answer..." Isaiah 65:24a
I had sent my airplane fare to
Love China Ministries soon after I was accepted as a
Bible courier almost two years earlier. During that
time I almost overcame my fears. The truth is,
obeying the Lord was uppermost in my mind,
overshadowing my fears. One morning I realized the
date was fast approaching for me to leave for the
training ranch where the couriers would be trained
to work as a team.
I said to R.J., "I called the
office of Love China Ministries to find out how much
expense money I will need. They said I should bring
about five hundred dollars for food, taxis, and etc.
I don't even have one hundred dollars. What am I
going to do?"
He replied, "If I had any money
I'd give it to you, but I have no extra funds right
now." "I had better pray about this tonight", I
said.
That afternoon I walked down to
the mail box and, picking up the mail, carried it
back to the house and tossed the pile of letters on
the table. Glancing through the pile I noticed the
return address on one--Internal Revenue Service.
"Oh, oh! R.J., here's a notice form the IRS. I
hope we don't owe them anything."
Upon opening the letter R.J.
announced, "How about that. We have a refund check
for five hundred and fifty dollars."
"What shall we do with this
money, R.J.?"
"I'll tell you what. Since you
have been such a good manager, I'm going to give it
all to you."
"Well, thanks. Are you sure
you want to do this? I do need it for my trip.
Say, you remember I told you this morning I was
going to pray and ask God for the money? Do you
realize that before I had the chance to pray, God
sent this check from the IRS? Now, I call that a
miracle."
I had heard it said that if God
calls you to do something He will make a way where
there seems to be no way. In my excitement I
declared, "Oh Lord, what an awesome God You are!
You provided the money before I had time to pray
for it."
Just as the Bible says: "Before
they call I will answer; while they are still
speaking I will Hear."
This experience built up my
faith and trust in God. |
